Professionalism aside,

I always find it important that people understand who I am as a person! I can always go on about what I believe and how my major and past jobs have impacted my life, but there's so much more than that! Continue on to learn more about my hobbies and interests!

Travel

Most history majors can probably attest to travel playing an important in them developing an interest in history, and I am no exception! When I get a chance to travel, I always take the time to visit as many historic and unique sites as I can. On the left is a photo of me at the World of Coke Museum on my most recent trip to Atlanta, Georgia.

Cross Stitch

A hobby I hold close to my heart is cross stitch. I began to lose interest in my past hobby and was desperate to find something to keep my hands busy. Initially I wanted to learn to make a few projects for myself, but I was exposed the mass of patterns on Etsy and have since never stopped.

Cross stitch has creative benefits of course, but there are mental benefits as well. It relieves stress, but it teaches the lesson of patience. One stitcher quoted, "The best lesson you can learn from cross-stitching is how small, steady effort can be transformational." (How Cross Stitching Developed my Creativity and Self-Discipline), I might not think about these benefits, but I have definitely become more patient, and relish a finished project more than I did prior to picking up the hobby

Natural History

Like all good historians, I have that specific topic that I can't get enough of. For me, that topic is natural history! I don't consider myself an expert by any means. I've never taken a class on the topic or spent any lengthy period of time on it, but if I have the chance to read a book, or attend a lecture on the subject, I will always take that opportunity.

Most recently, I have begun to do my own research into beginning a podcast on the natural history of garden weeds (with the occasional non-weed thrown in).
